Queer Kids Say No
The University of Oregon is a very liberal school. There are gay couples all over campus. At times it is weird to see gay couples because it is unusual. But i believe that as long as they don’t harm anyone then they should be allowed to marry. Marriage is something everyone should have the right to do. Love is what brings people together and preventing that is something that should be taken in to consideration. The article talks about how the argument of gay marriage ignores the economic crisis and cuts. Its stating that we need to focus on more important things rather than preventing gay marriage. The article also states that queers are the new blacks. I agree with that statement 100 percent. They are not treated equally just because they like the same sex. I honestly don’t see the big deal in that. They are people just like everyone else and deserve the right to live a happy life. If gays were allowed to marry i think more and more comfortable with them. Its just because its unusual to see gay couples and thats why it such a big deal. We were not used to blacks hanging out with black people or going to same parks as them. But once they were allowed people started caring less and now the US is more peaceful. If gays were allowed to marry it would be something we would get accustomed to.

Actually, nowhere does the blog say that gas are the new blacks. In fact, the authors say the opposite: “We reject the notion that ‘gay is the new blac,’ that the fight for marriage equality is parallel to the fight for civil rights, that queer rights nad rights for people of color are mutually exclusive [. . .] Drawing that parallel erases queer people of color and makes light of the structural racism that the civil rights movement fought against”
